You Just Never Know Who You’ll Meet

This past weekend I went to my office on Saturday morning to get a couple hours of work done.  When I arrived, there was a man tearing out the floors in the bathrooms in order to replace them.  I said “Hello” as I passed him and went to my office.  About five minutes later, he knocked on my door.  Apparently none of the power outlets were working so he couldn’t run his saw machine.  I went and checked a few things and then opened up a conference room for him.  The power worked and his machine started.

As I was getting ready to go back to my office, the man said to me, “You look really familiar.”  This sometimes happens when I’m out in public and usually it is because the man was in jail in the past and came to one of my chapel services.  Such was the case here.

I asked him if he’d ever been to jail before.  He said, “Yes, that’s it!  Two years ago I was in jail and I came to your church service and heard you speak.”  We talked for about five more minutes as I asked how he’d been doing, if he’d gone to any church since he’s been out, how’s his walk with the Lord, etc.  After the conversation, I went back to my office and started working.

Ten minutes later I felt that I should do something more…maybe talk to him some more.  There was a gospel tract laying on my computer printer that I had put there a couple months back, wondering how I could use it.  I wrote my name and cellular number on a post-it note and attached it to the gospel tract.  I went back out and talked with him a bit more.  He was happy to talk, but was moved when I gave him the gospel tract and my phone number.  I told him to call me if he has any more questions and that I’d love for him to come to church with me and my family.  He said he really appreciated it and he would think about it.  Please pray for that man.  His name is Luis.
